Olly Newland is a legend in property investing in New Zealand

For more than a quarter of a century, Olly Newland has been sharing his hard-won insights, advice and warnings.Through seminars, columns, and plain-talking, easy to follow, best-selling books, Olly has accurately foretold market changes. He’s alerted investors to arising opportunities, and warned them of scams, traps and pitfalls. Never far from controversy, Olly has earned the acclaim, gratitude and respect of generations of kiwi investors.

Olly Newland was born in Lower Hutt, grew up in Plimmerton, then Karori, Wellington and, as a teenager, in Auckland, New Zealand. In his books, The Coming Property Boom (1978), The Property Boom (1981), and Lost Property (1994, updated 2001, 2007) he correctly foresaw many of the coming market events. His The Rascal’s Guide to Real Estate (2002) is a real-world handbook for today’s property investor and in his book, The Day the Bubble Bursts this supremely experienced investor and dealmaker alerts investors about a coming market transition and gives advice about how to make the most of opportunities coming. Climbing the Property Ladder recounts some of Olly’s adventures as an investor.

Even Olly’s older books are still quoted today and are keenly sought by those seeking insight and extra knowledge in a complex and fascinating field.Through his top-rating TV Show Property Climbers Olly has reached hundreds of thousands of people, sharing his insights and impartial advice.

Olly has ‘been there, done that’ in almost every area of real estate investing in this country. Affectionately known by real estate agents as “Mr Wholesale”, Olly’s strength (and what he can teach you) is in always buying well. “It’s all in the buying,” he says. “Buy cheap, bargain hard and remember that rents do not rise at the same rate as values.”

Wheeling and dealing through the 1960s and ’70s, Olly saw and accurately foretold the huge increases in property prices that swept the market during that period. By the late ’70s he had bought and sold literally hundreds of houses. In the ’80s he founded a very successful public company, Landmark, specialising in commercial property investments. Landmark grew from $5 million to $500 million in just a few years. Along with most others, it was swept away by the cataclysmic events of 1987, which few people foresaw. Since then he has pursued in private an active role investing in a mixture of residential and commercial properties on a long-term basis.
Olly continues to  his Personal Mentoring programme for a limited number of people each year.
He lives in Auckland and remains married to his first wife. They have three adult children and an increasing brood of cherished grandchildren. He enjoys antiques collecting and classic cars.

Olly is one of a small group of professional investors who have experienced first-hand the dizzying highs and lows of the property market … and who today continue to profit from their experience. He’s an experienced landlord and investor, but first and foremost, Olly is an excellent judge of value — and one of the sharpest buyers of real estate you’ll meet.

Olly’s breadth of experience can really help YOU to succeed. As well as giving principles and practical action steps, he’ll tell you little-known but important things usually only learned through experience.

In these changing times, with a confusing jumble of voices (some hype merchants and some squawking about the so-called “end” of property as a worthwhile investment) it’s great to have the benefit of someone who takes the long view. Olly can give you strategies, formulas and approaches that work in different situations and different markets. Today, in his role as a qualified and Authorised Financial Advisor he continues to offer guidance and a wide range of advice to investors.

If you see the importance of investing in your own future, and you see property investment as part of that future, then learning from him could be one of the best investments you could make.

Choose your mentors wisely

‘Choose your mentors wisely. Be careful from whom you take advice. If you want to go somewhere, it is best to find someone who has already been there.’ — Robert Kiyosaki in The CASHFLOW Quadrant.

Olly Newland definitely qualifies as someone who has already ‘been there’. With his enormous experience in real estate, Olly has learned how to make money in a rising, falling, or flat market. He’s been up and down (and sideways!) and has the scars to prove it. He’s a systematic and entertaining teacher and, most importantly for this course, an active and successful investor. Also, like Robert, Olly has made his share of mistakes, and learned some hard lessons he can share with you. Get alongside, and get the benefit of his experience for yourself.
